Projects are taken up ranging from the rejuvenation of Mundar River and renovation of Kacherikadavu Boat Jetty Canal to deal with the problems of siltation, growth of weeds, deteriorated water quality, growth of pests/rodents and spread of diseases.

The activities of Rejuvenation of Mundar River and Boat Jetty Canal focus on embankment protection, development of recreational facilities, wastewater/sewerage treatment, removal of weeds, landscaping and aquaculture.

The main results expected to be achieved from the EcoCity Project are:

• Improved water quality in Mundar River and Kacherikadavu Boat jetty Canal
• Reduced spread of diseases
• Availability of new recreational areas for local people
• Improved revenues to municipality
• Availability of Kacherikadavu canal for navigation
• Availability of trained manpower in the Kottayam Municipality on the issues related to urban management including waste management, waste water management.
