Urban Environmental Information System (Urb-ENVIS)

The project activity on “Urb-ENVIS” targets at developing urban environmental information system involving the local bodies (municipalities) and publishing an environmental statement or ‘environmental profile’ bi-annually from each of the identified municipalities to make information and the environmental improvement strategies of the local bodies transparent. The main purpose of the Urb-Envis is to help identify key environmental issues , sensitize politicians and administration on local environmental problems and improvements needed, and inform people of the local environmental situation.

The focus initially is in the towns of Kottayam, Vrindavan, Puri, Ujjain, Tirupati, Bhubaneswar, Chennai and Indore.
