Thanjavur

Thanjavur is a historic town, well known for Sri Brihadeeswara temple built in 11th century AD by the Chola kings. A number of tourists and pilgrims visit this temple town. Thanjavur is a center of classical arts and music. The Thanjavur district is known as the 'Rice Bowl' of Tamil Nadu and is known for its exquisite handicrafts, bronzes and musical instruments.

The EcoCity Projects in the first phase would cover improvement of the following water bodies:

Azhagikulam Tank
Samanthankulum Tank
Sivaganga Tank
Mohirappachavadi Tank
