Thanjavur
Thanjavur is a historic town, well known for Sri Brihadeeswara
temple built in 11th century AD by the Chola kings. A number of
tourists and pilgrims visit this temple town. Thanjavur is a center
of classical arts and music. The Thanjavur district is known as
the 'Rice Bowl' of Tamil Nadu and is known for its exquisite handicrafts,
bronzes and musical instruments.
